Entrepreneurship has become an indispensable tool for economic development, innovation, and employment generation in both developed and developing countries. In Nigeria, entrepreneurship is increasingly promoted as a strategy for reducing unemployment and fostering economic growth. However, entrepreneurial success depends not only on technical and managerial competencies but also on effective communication skills. English language proficiency plays a critical role in entrepreneurial development because it serves as the language of business, education, technology, and international trade. This paper examines the role of English language proficiency in entrepreneurship development, focusing on its influence on business communication, networking, marketing, customer relations, and access to entrepreneurial opportunities. The study adopts a descriptive survey design based on secondary data from existing literature. Findings reveal that English language proficiency significantly enhances entrepreneurial effectiveness, business growth, investor relations, and participation in global markets. The study recommends the integration of Business English and communication skills into entrepreneurship education programmes at all levels of education.
